View this email in your browser Thank you for being a part of this adventure. http://www.Walker5forGod.com Jesse greeted Brian with an out-reached hand and said, "It's nice to meet you."  Brian's countenance changed as he looked up into Jesse's clean bright face.   It wasn't because of Jesse himself, but how Jesse greeted him, a homeless street artist, with mutual respect and a genuine interest in his life.  As we had sat watching Brian interact with people, Jesse and I had talked about how he was doing art in exchange for the dollars people would give him.  This led us to introduce ourselves and share how much Jesus loves him.  We could tell that our willingness to shake his hand and greet him with dignity impacted him.  We had a great chat about his art abilities and that these abilities are a gift from God and how he should use the gift to glorify God.  We waited out a rain storm talking about God's love and praying.  It was one of the sweetest interactions with a new friend that I have ever had.  This encounter had started with mutual respect for another of God's creations.  God created Brian in his own image and we looked beyond the obvious "dirt and circumstances of life" and just enjoyed the company.  May we always look for how God created things and wants things to be and work hard to walk them out versus how we think things should be.  Shiloh and Ned Shiloh isn't very verbal but he says so much when he rounds the corner and smiles at Ned. As he heads into Ned's office, he makes eye contact for a greeting and then gets to head to the candy basket.  This may not seem like much but for a little guy struggling to find himself in a world of autism, this is life-bringing interaction with someone outside his comfortable world of Mommy and Daddy and Baby Brother.  Ned has become a part of Shiloh's healing process through a tiny piece of candy once a day.  We all ministry to people in ways and at times that we really don't understand. We do it through the little things of life. Many of the things we do seem like not much but never underestimate the little things that we do that are big things to the people who receive them.  Galatians 6:9 says, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."  Keep doing the good things no matter how big or small.    Thank you for your continued prayers and support. View this email in your browser   Walker5forGod.com Summer Camp, Summer Teams and Sumac What a busy summer we seem to have had. We headed to Florida in July to be the jr chapel speakers for one week that stretched into 2 weeks.  It was great to work alongside Life for Youth Camp counselors to share the love of Jesus every night with the campers.  It was also great to see Sammi work at the camp where she was born and spent her toddler years.  It was then back to Richmond, where Debbie and Jesse hosted the summer teams made up of a local Korean church and a church group from Greensboro, NC.  We worked in the city with a local refugee ministry along with serving the local community with yard work projects and Character Club lessons at the community center.  Then it was off to Indiana to do some support raising but also to share and encourage others at a couple of churches.  In Indiana, we discovered what poison sumac is and how allergic Debbie is to it.  Doctors visits and lots of rain were the not so fun part of the trip.  It has been a summer of going and sharing and encouraging others. We were blessed to get to see many friends and family members that we had not seen in a long time. Relationships are so important and we are thankful for the old ones that we were able to reconnect with and also the new ones that we made.  Life for Youth Camp Jr Chapel We were the chapel speakers and got to teach about Jesus and living for Him to about 70-80 campers each night.  On the last night of chapel about 65 campers stood to commit to spending time with Jesus on a daily basis and getting to know Him more. Summer Outreach Teams playing soccer with local refugees Richmond has refugee programs with families who truly have been harmed in their home countries and can not safely live there. Our summer teams were able to go and play soccer and do some skits with this group of kids.  Showing the love of Jesus by allowing them to just safely be kids for awhile. Teaching the story of the Good Samaritan was a great way to share that Jesus loves us all and that we are responsible to be nice to others.  Church of Hope in Amboy, Indiana A sweet little spot to worship Jesus on Sunday mornings and get to spend time with fellow believers. It was nice to get to share in a church with some family members. Debbie's cousin, aunt and uncle work in the church here and Debbie's parents came to hear Debbie share. Relationships are so important to the heart of God and so vital for our ministry. Fall is coming! This means the start of Jesse's senior year of high school.  We are looking forward to a season of serving here at the base in Richmond, Virginia. New schools will be starting here in a couple of weeks which always mean more people to encourage that are students but also the younger staff that tend to come to our house for a family dinner or just time sitting in a home enjoying fellowship.  Thank you so much for being a part of our journey!
