Latest News from the Walkers L.I.V.E. Lordship, Intimacy with God, Value and Identity and Eternity Living This was the focus of the teaching for the Summer Team that we just enjoyed working with here at YWAM Va. We had teachings in the mornings and local outreaches in the afternoon and evenings. We were able to be the hands and feet of Jesus by chopping firewood, packing supplies for a missions trip, playing with local kids and youth in the city and surrounding area of Richmond, Virginia. We focused on what we value in life and how what we value determines our behaviors. What we value becomes a priority in what we do.
Serving God as a family as He sees fit. From the first day of our missions adventure, we have tried to serve God doing whatever He has wanted. Here at YWAM VA that is what we have done....Serve! There are a lot of opportunities to serve here in Richmond. This past month, Ned has served in the accounting office. Debbie and Jesse got to work and serve with the team from the Korean Central Church of Pittsburgh. It was a fun week of evangelizing and praying for people in the city. We have also helped with a lot of different jobs. Debbie has been super blessed by getting to help teach English here in our English Language and Culture school the past two weeks. Being a missionary or a Christian means being obedient to do what God asks of us wherever God asks. We have been asked to serve God full time and that is what we are doing here in Richmond. We enjoy working with Youth With A Mission and enjoy the way the base here in Richmond works. They do training, evangelism and mercy ministries. Not only does the base train missionaries to be sent overseas but they also work hard in the local community. Weekly there is a Character Club ministry to the local youth and children in our community and there is also Potters Pantry that works with the local food bank and helps to feed local families. We are enjoying serving and continuing to learn to be obedient to what ever the Lord asks us to do. Thank you for helping us to serve with YWAM full time. We love doing what we do and can not do it without you. We do need your help because it costs more to live here in the US than it does in the DR. Would you please pray and ask God how you can help? | | | Ned working in the office! | | | Here is a video that Debbie did for YWAM Richmond this week to help encourage others that they too can serve God as He sees fit!
Greetings from the Walkers The Walkers are all on US soil for a time. We had a great reunion time as a family and were super excited to get to visit the Grand Canyon. But sadly, it was short lived and now we are all separated again. Ned, Debbie and Jesse are in the trial volunteer stage at YWAM Virginia in Richmond, VA. We are "trying out" staffing here to see if it is a good fit for both our family and for the base here. So far we are loving it. Ned is doing some accounting work along with working some maintenance; mainly small engine and tractor repair. Debbie and Jesse have done lots of lunch clean ups and general yard work. We also all did the ropes course training and Jesse and Debbie helped with our first ropes participants of the year. It has been fun getting to know people here with the same heart to serve the Lord wherever He puts us. Sammi is still living in Georgia, working at Meg Pie in Cartersville and looking toward attending Hillsong College in July. Please email her at sjw8611@gmail.com for more info on what's up with her. Hannah is back at YWAM Mendocino, CA doing a School of Supernatural Missions. She has some big news coming up so look for her update. If you don't get her update, please email dwalker.ywam@gmail.com. You can email her directly at Hattiecat97@gmail.com | | | | Ned using some long ago learned skills and working on the chipper at YWAM VA. We appreciate your prayers as we transition to the states and to YWAM VA in Richmond. We can not do this with out your support. We are still self-supported full-time missionaries with Youth With A Mission and are sharing the love of God and the salvation message of Jesus with those around us. | | | | Jesse and Ms. Thelma We live in a rather poor area of the city of Richmond where there is not a lot of opportunity for the local kids. Ms. Thelma is from South Africa and is on staff here at YWAM. She does Character Club at the local community center along with coaching soccer. We have all enjoyed volunteering with her and Jesse is her new assistant coach. Jesse is also playing baseball on a local team and is enjoying playing soccer and basketball with the local staff and neighborhood guys. Even if they aren't his favorite sports. | | | | We really need your help financially. We need to raise our support about $600 per month. Living costs are a lot higher here in the US then in the DR. We also need to find a home of our own after our trial time. We will need to raise some money for housing costs and furniture. Please be in prayer for our support and our upcoming financial needs. What are the Walkers doing right now?
We are moving!!
The last week of August, our family will be moving long-term to Santiago, Dominican Republic. We will be working with YWAM Santiago and the Martin Family! We are super excited about this transition. But also praying for wisdom as we figure out visa's, residency, what to do with our things, etc...
As always, we are praying that the Lord will use us wherever we are!
Lord, help us not to miss the things you have prepared for us to do!
